TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Gov. Chris Christie has nominated two people to the New Jersey Supreme Court. One is a lower-court judge who would become the first Asian-American to serve on the state's highest court if confirmed by the state Senate.
David Bauman is currently the presiding judge for the civil division of the Superior Court in Monmouth County.
The 56-year-old Holmdel resident was born in Japan to a Japanese mother and an American father of German and Irish heritage who was serving in the U.S. Navy. He immigrated to the United States when he was 3.
The other nominee is Robert Hanna. The 54-year-old Madison resident is president of the state Board of Public Utilities, a quasi-judicial agency that oversees the state's regulated utilities.
