NEWARK — The Dalai Lama is coming to New Jersey’s largest city.

The Tibetan spiritual leader is scheduled to give the keynote address at the Newark Peace Education Summit in May.

The three-day event is being organized by Tibet House U.S. and its founder, Robert Thurman, and by the Drew A. Katz Foundation.

The summit will focus on peacemaking as a way for individuals, communities and nations to resolve conflicts and problems. Iranian Nobel Laureate Shirin Ebadi also is scheduled to attend.

Newark Mayor Cory Booker is scheduled to announce details of the event at a news conference Wednesday afternoon.
