TRENTON — Forecasters have expanded an excessive heat warning as hazy, hot and humid weather continues in New Jersey. But the heat wave is nearing an end.

The excessive heat warning remains in effect until 8 p.m. for Mercer, Gloucester, Camden, Burlington, Morris, Hunterdon, Somerset, Middlesex, Ocean, western Monmouth, Passaic, Hudson, Bergen and Essex counties.

Forecasters say temperatures will remain in the 90s on Friday and Saturday. Combined with tropical humidity, it could feel like 107 degrees on Friday and 103 degrees on Saturday.

The highest heat index values will occur during the afternoon and early evening hours.

Forecasters say thunderstorms and a cold front are expected to arrive late Saturday, bringing an end to the heat wave.
