FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Police expect to release more information Tuesday about an auto accident that injured New Jersey Democratic gubernatorial candidate Barbara Buono.

The state senator suffered facial cuts in the crash in Franklin Township Monday.

Police Sgt. Philip Rizzo tells The Star Ledger of Newark (bit.ly/129MwVf) Buono was a passenger in the back seat when the accident happened on Easton Avenue.

The 59-year-old was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.

Buono represents the 18th District in Middlesex County.

She is not facing any major challenges as she seeks the Democratic gubernatorial nomination to run against Republican Gov. Chris Christie in November.
