Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson announced Monday the appointment of Atlantic City Mayor Don Guardian to the Atlantic County Improvement Authority’s Board of Commissioners.
Levinson said Guardian, who served as director of Atlantic City’s Special Improvement District for 20 years before being elected mayor last year, is a perfect fit for the job.
“It is imperative that Atlantic City is represented on this board,” Levinson said. “I can think of no one who is more capable and better able to serve in this role at this time than Don Guardian.”
The Atlantic County Improvement Authority plans, finances and constructs public improvements in Atlantic County’s municipalities and school districts and assists in the construction and rehabilitation of housing throughout the county. Its board consists of seven members who serve five-year terms.
Guardian will fill the unexpired term of Maureen Gallagher through May 1, 2015. His appointment is pending the consent of the Atlantic County freeholders.
