STAFFORD TOWNSHIP — A Burlington County man crashed a box truck into a utility pole, knocking out power to the area, police said.

Officers went to the area of East Bay Avenue about 11:50 a.m. Sunday after a box truck hit a utility pole, police said in a statement Monday

Kevin Gaskill, 23, of the Marlton section of Evesham Township, attempted to drive around a curve eastbound on East Bay Avenue when he lost control of the truck and struck a utility pole, police said.

The crash split the pole in half, and the truck rolled onto its side, police said. The Stafford Township First Aid Squad treated Gaskill at the scene. He did not go to the hospital.

He was issued a careless driving summons pending a future court date in township municipal court, police said.

Verizon and Atlantic City Electric replaced the utility pole and reconnected its lines, police said. Power was restored shortly after.

Patrolman Allen Jillson was the investigating officer. The Stafford Township Volunteer Fire Company and Stafford Township Volunteer EMS assisted at the scene.
