The Absecon Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that took place on Friday at the Sun Petro Gas Station on Absecon Boulevard.

Shortly before 4 a.m. Friday, surveillance footage captured two adult male suspects approaching the attendant on foot, police said.

Both suspects were believed to be about 20 to 25 with thin to medium build.

The first suspect was wearing black boots, jeans, a blue hooded sweatshirt and flat brim baseball cap, police said, and forcefully removed several hundred dollars in cash and the victim’s cell phone after showing a handgun.

The second suspect, wearing a yellow or orange jacket, also forcefully removed the victim’s keys, cigarettes and lighter, police said, though he did not show a weapon.

The suspects then ran south on Shore Road toward Ohio Avenue, police said, where a witness reported that they got in a dark-colored sedan that had been parked beneath the train bridge. The sedan reportedly fled south on South Shore Road at a high rate of speed.

The Atlantic City Police Department provided assistance in the investigation.

The case remains under investigation by Officer Dan Howell and Detective Leigh Gadd.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call the Absecon Police Department Detective Bureau at 609-641-0667 or Crime Stoppers at 609-652-1234.
