Police said the crime was thwarted when the victim was able to speak to a store clerk, who called police.

Officers arrived at the store and arrested Reyes and Colon in a vehicle in the parking lot, police said.

They were being held on warrants at the Cumberland County jail in Bridgeton. Police said the victim suffered minor injuries during the assault.
