The Staples store in Egg Harbor Township will close by the end of the month, a Staples spokeswoman said - although its employees appear to be keeping their jobs.

"It's not something we're happy about," Amy Shanler said of the Tilton Road store's March 27 closing, "but we are able to transfer most of our employees to other locations."

The EHT store has about 25 employees, although there were no exact numbers on how many were staying with the company. The Massachusetts-based chain operates three other Atlantic County stores in Absecon, Somers Point and Hamilton Township.

"We always evaluate a store's performance so that we're operating our business in the best way possible," Shanler said. "We just hope to service our customers in the region with our other stores."
