Four injured in Maurice River Township crash

MAURICE RIVER TOWNSHIP - Four people were taken to area hospitals after the car they were traveling in crashed into a tree along Route 550 on Sunday morning, State Police said.

Police said the driver, Phillip Jones, 23, of Millville, was trying to negotiate a curve along westbound Route 550 when he ran off the road and crashed into a tree.

Jones and two of his yet unidentified passengers were taken to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, while a fourth person in the car was treated at and released from South Jersey Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Vineland.

The accident is under investigation.
