BERKELEY TOWNSHIP - A section of Route 9 will be shut down until approximately 6 p.m. following an accident near Harley Boulevard Friday morning.

An unidentified driver hit and knocked down a utility pole near the intersection around 10:30 a.m., and police closed the road in both directions while rerouting traffic through the adjacent side streets.

Utility crews will be repairing the pole for several hours. Police did not immediately say if any utility service was affected in the area due to the accident.
