A 30 year-old Egg Harbor Township died in a car accident on Tuesday afternoon after he lost control of his car and crashed into two trees while trying to avoid another driver on the Black Horse Pike in Monroe Township, Gloucester County, according to Monroe police.
Joshua A. Goetz was driving east on Route 322 at around 5:19 p.m. when a second car pulled up from Karen Drive and stopped just before entering the highway, according to a police press release.
Goetz swerved left to avoid the other car, then made a hard right turn to avoid the westbound highway lane and he lost control of his car, according to township police. The car spun around, traveled about 200 feet along the highway and roadway, and crashed into two trees. Goetz was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, and emergency workers determined he died of his injuries at 5:38 p.m.
The Monroe Township police are still investigating the case and a motor vehicle summons may be issued to the second driver, Louis A. Gatti the 2nd of Williamstown, pending completion.
Witnesses should contact Corporal Jim Kelly of the Monroe Township Police Department Traffic Safety Bureau at 856-728-9800 ext. 540.
