BUENA VISTA TOWNSHIP - A 5-year-old boy from New York was airlifted to a Philadelphia hospital Friday after he nearly drowned in the pool at the Buena Vista Campground, State Police said.
David N. Pereira, 5, of Maspeth, N.Y. was pulled from the water at the campground, and state troopers arrived to find the Landisville Fire Company and Buena Emergency Services performing life-saving techniques, according to State Police, Buena Vista Station.
The boy was taken to Southern Regional Hospital in Vineland, and was airlifted from there to Children's Hospital in Philadelphia, police said. He was listed in serious but stable condition.
This is the second near-drowning incident involving a young child in Atlantic County this week.
A 3½-year-old girl was pulled from the bottom of the pool Wednesday afternoon at the Celebrity Resorts in Brigantine. She was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus, in Atlantic City before being airlifted to Cooper University Hospital in Camden. Her identity has not been released.
