VINELAND--A store owner fought back and thwarted a masked gunman's attempt to rob him Wednesday night, police said.
Police are now seaching for the alleged robber.
The man attempted to rob the owner of Ed & Alba's Food Mart, 561 NE Blvd around 8 p.m. last night.
The owner, 44, whom police did not identify, was closing up the store when the robber confronted him. The gunman pointed a handgun at the owner and demanded he go back into the store. The owner resisted, and the gunman ranc across the Boulevard. The victim reported that he saw head lights go on and a vehicle fleeing south on the Boulevard.
The victim reported minor injuries, but refused treatment. Nothing was taken from the victim or the store.
The suspecte was 5'11", male, and wore a dark hooded sweatshire. Crime Stoppers of Vineland is offering a reward of up to $1,000.00 for information leading to the arrest of the suspect. Det. Shane Harris is the lead investigator.
