CAPE MAY--The owners of the Beach Theatre in Cape May plan to demolish the structure within the next four months.

Bruce Frank, president of Frank Investments that owns the beach-block movie theater, said Friday that the demolition would take place before the end of the year.

The Cape May City Construction Office said the company still needs to submit its application for a demolition permit--a standard form that requires gas, electric and water be shut off and neighbors notified.

The Beach Theatre Foundation, a group in Cape May formed to keep the movie theater open, had tried to stop the company from demolishing the Beach Avenue landmark and building a complex of retail stores and condominiums on the site.
