Beachgoer suffers spinal injuries in Brigantine

A man who dove into shallow water off the beach in Brigantine was taken to the hospital with serious neck and back injuries, according to the Brigantine Beach Patrol.

Lt. Edward Leon said that the man, whose name was not released, dove into the water near the south end jetty just before noon on Saturday.

He was transported to the Regional Trauma Unit at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Leon said.
