ATLANTIC CITY - Mayor Lorenzo Langford is calling resort stakeholders to his office later this month to discuss the city's future weeks after one incoming casino operator implored the city's private and public entities to cooperate.
A spokesman for the mayor confirmed Tuesday that the mayor has invited members of the casino industry, civic organizations and state agencies to his office on Nov. 24.
"We are either going to have to stay in this boat and make it float or we're going to sink," Hall said.
The mayor's office gave few specifics about the meeting and those expected to be in attendance. Hall said invites went out to several casino executives, Casino Reinvestment Development Authority Director Tom Carver and representatives of some city neighborhoods.
One source with knowledge of the meeting said the scheduled summit is in response to the public plea for cooperation from Revel Entertainment Group's CEO Kevin Desanctis in late October. Revel is currently constructing a $2 billion casino hotel in the resort's dilapidated Inlet section.
Langford was not immediately available for comment.
