The Atlantic City Alliance is promising a major summer entertainment announcement involving a free concert on the beach in Atlantic City.

The alliance, a casino-funded marketing group, has scheduled a news conference for 11 a.m. today at the Sheraton Atlantic City Convention Center Hotel, where the act is expected to be announced.

Last year, a free concert on Atlantic City’s beaches with Jimmy Buffett and Wilson Phillips drew an estimated 50,000 attendees, police estimated.

In June 2012, Wildwood hosted a free concert on the beach with country singer Kenny Chesney that drew at least 25,000 people to the Cape May County shore town, that city’s officials said.
