Atlantic City property owners who are 65 or older are eligible for a $500 credit on their municipal property taxes, the mayor announced Thursday.
"The $500 credit will provide property-tax relief and help to ease the burden for our seniors," Mayor Lorenzo Langford said.
The credit is available to qualified Atlantic City residents of owner-occupied primary homes.
Eligible senior citizens must file a Municipal Senior Citizen Property Tax Relief Claim Form with the Tax Assessor's Office, City Hall, Room 606, 1301 Bacharach Blvd.
Proof of age is required, along with a copy of one of the following: a New Jersey state income tax return, state Homestead Benefit application or state property-tax reimbursement "Senior Freeze" application.
To receive the tax credit this year, forms must be submitted by May 31. Those submitted after that will be given out next year.
Claim forms are available in the Tax Assessor's Office or at www.cityofatlanticcity.org. For more information, call 347-5380.
