The Atlantic City International Airport will receive a $2.25 million grant to design and construct deicing pads for aircraft at the facility.

U.S. Congressman Frank A. LoBiondo, R-2, announced the grant Monday. The money is through the federal Department of Transportation.

Airplanes currently deiced on designated areas on the terminal apron.

“Increasing tourism to South Jersey is critically important to our local economy with ACY remaining the key to that effort,” LoBiondo said in a statement. “This federal funding will further help us improve safety and update operations at ACY which should help the Port Authority make the case to national airlines that South Jersey is an attractive option for additional commercial carrier service.”
