Atlantic City police arrested a man who allegedly stabbed a woman early this morning.

Police responding at 1:20 a.m. today to a "slashing" on the 1000 block of Arctic Avenue found several witnesses pointing to a man in the street and saying that he had stabbed a woman, Sgt. Monica McMenamin said.

Officer Dawn Riggs and Sgt. Richard Johnson approached Vincent Correll at gunpoint and took him into custody, according to the report.

Johnson then went to the victim, who was inside a building on the flood bleeding heavily from a stab wound to the neck. The 43-year-old woman told police she was assaulted, punched and then stabbed by Correll during a domestic dispute. She was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus, where she underwent surgery for her injuries, McMenamin said.
