Police have arrested an Atlantic City man in a 2011 killing.

A three-year investigation led to the arrest Thursday of a now-21-year-old city man, acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced today. Because the man was 17 at the time of the killing, his name is being withheld until he can be waived up to adult court.

Bruce Bowers, 48, was found dead inside his home at the Lighthouse Plaza in Feb. 16, 2011. It was not clear when he was killed, but police were called there by the report of an odor emanating from the dwelling.

Bowers died of a gunshot wound to the chest.

The suspect is charged with murder, felony murder, robbery, unlawful possession of a handgun, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Members of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department arrested the suspect without incident at the residence of a relative on the 1300 block of Magellan Avenue in Atlantic City.

The man appeared in court this morning before Atlantic County Superior Court Judge Joseph L. Marczyk, who remanded him to the Atlantic County Justice Facility without bail.

His next appearance would be in Family Court, until he is waived up.
