ATLANTIC CITY — A man arrested in a shooting last month was arrested again Monday afternoon in a drug investigation.

Eric Teasley, 22, was one of five people arrested around noon at a home on the 200 block of North Massachusetts Avenue, Lt. James Sarkos said.

Police said they seized ammunition, 488 bags of heroin and about $4,500 in alleged drug money from the home after an investigation by Detectives Mike Ruzzo and Paul Petinga led SWAT and Special Investigations Unit members to the home.

Teasley is one of five men charged in a Jan. 25 shooting in the city’s Chelsea Heights section in which two people were wounded. Both victims are among those charged in the crime.

Also arrested Monday were Atlantic City residents Rashad Stephens, 23; Brittany Sutton, 21, and Markita Hurst, 23, along with Laquan Rex, 21, of Mays Landing.

Teasley and Stephens were previously charged in connection with a raid last spring on the the alleged Back Maryland drug gang, the 800 Blok. They are being held on $250,000 bail.

Rex has a juvenile conviction on weapon possession from when he was 17, according to a release from the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office sent at the time. His bail is $150,000.

Sutton and Hurst are jailed on $75,000 bail each.
