An Atlantic City man was arrested and charged with sexual assault after an encounter with a minor last week.

David Mariche-Banos, 21, allegedly met the 15-year-old girl in an Internet chat room and made arrangements to meet her in Northvale, according to a statement from the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office (BCPO) today.

The prosecutor's office identified Mariche-Banos as an Atlantic City lifeguard. However, Beach Patrol Chief Rod Aluise said there is no record of Mariche-Banos working for his department. Aluise said  Mariche-Banos is also not working for the city's recreation department, according to employees he spoke with.

The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office has not responded to a request for additional informaton regarding Mariche-Banos' employment.

Police saw Mariche-Banos with her on Aug. 15, which is when he was arrested, according to Maureen Parenta, spokeswoman for BCPO.

Mariche-Banos allegedly told the victim he was younger than he actually is and engaged in sexual activity with the victim, according to the BCPO.

He was arrested Aug. 15 and has been charged with sexual assault and is in Bergen County Jail. Bail is set at $75,000.
