An Atlantic City man was indicted Wednesday for the December murder of a Chikki Smith, 33, who was found fatally shot in Pleasantville.

Gregory J. Gibbs, 36, turned himself in on Jan. 7 for the murder and was subsequently arrested and taken to Atlantic County Jail, where he currently remains, according to a statement from the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office. His first appearance was two days later.

On Dec. 3, Smith, of Atlantic City, was found dead from several gunshot wounds in a parking lot on South Main Street in Pleasantville. Police said he was having wings and beer at a nearby bar when he got a phone call and went outside, where his attacker was waiting.

An investigation resulted in a warrant for the arrest of Gibbs, who turned himself in a month later.

Gibbs has been indicted for murder and multiple weapons offenses. He is in jail with bail set at $1 million cash.
