An Atlantic City man has been indicted in the 2009 killing of a man who had just been released from prison.

Andrew Garland, 24, is accused of killing Shaddiy Dixon, 20, during a block party in Atlantic City on Aug. 4, 2009.

Dixon, 20, had been home from prison less than 24 hours when he was fatally shot during the party that began Aug. 3 in the parking lot of Moe's Chicken on the 1300 block of Adriatic Avenue. Police were called to the scene early the next day and found Dixon dead.

Three other men were wounded in the gunfire, but they have not been cooperative in the case, according to information given in court today. No one has been charged in those shootings.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office put new focus on the case last year and was able to find evidence linking Garland to the crime.

A warrant was issued Jan. 9 of this year. On Jan. 25, Garland turned himself in and has been lodged in the Atlantic County jail on $1 million bail.
