A 30-year-old Atlantic City man suffered gunshot wounds early Saturday morning in the Westside section of the city, police said.

Four and five shots were reported fired in the 300 block North Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at about 2:43 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers found the victim semiconscious in a vehicle that had jumped the curb and came to rest on the lawn of a residence, police said.

The victim, who has not been identified, had sustained gunshot wounds to his chest and groin. He was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus, in Atlantic City, where he was taken into surgery.

The caller told police they saw a man running through the area. Officers searched but did not find the individual.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Criminal Investigations Unit at 609-347-5766. Information can also be reported anonymously to Atlantic County Crime Stoppers at 609-652-1234 or texted to tip411 (847411), beginning the text with ACPD.
