Atlantic City police arrested a 17-year-old male Wednesday night in the Back Maryland section of the city.

Police charged the teen with possession of a firearm, resisting arrest, aggravated assault on police and possession of marijuana, police said in a release. He was arrested by Officers Darrin Lorady and Gene Laielli.

The officers spotted the suspect at 10:01 p.m. walking away from their patrol car and clutching something in his waistband, police said. As the officers got out of their car to speak to the male a handgun fell from his pant leg, police said.

The suspect struggled with the officers to retrieve the gun and was arrested. He also was in possession of marijuana, police said. No injures were reported, police said.

The suspect was transported to Harbor Fields Detention Center in Egg Harbor City, police said.
