ATLANTIC CITY — The Irish Pub will reopen Thursday, four days after an allegedly drunken driver drove took out a wall there.

Donald Preston Jr., 50, of Pleasantville, has been charged with driving while intoxicated and other motor vehicle violations in the crash, which occurred after 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

The driver had allegedly been refused service before leaving the bar and getting in his car. Surveillance footage shows his car making a large circle before driving into the building. It appears he then tried to back out.

No further charges have been filed in the case. The investigation is ongoing.

The bar and restaurant will reopen at 11:30 this morning.

Owner Cathy Burke has said complete restoration will take a long time, but the opening would not be delayed.

“The building will be safe, secure, warm and open for the weekend,” she told The Press of Atlantic City, in time for Super Bowl viewing Sunday.
