Atlantic City police are investigating a shooting that injured a man as he was walking through an alley overnight.

Julian Jackson, 29, told police he was walking south on Virginia Avenue and cut through Born Terrace, an alley that runs behind a row of businesses and apartments facing Atlantic Avenue. He came across two or three men standing in a doorway, and one of them fired four or five shots at him shortly before 12:47 a.m., Lt. Dan Ritzel and Sgt. Monica McMenamin said later.

Two bullets hit Jackson’s left thigh and buttocks. He made it to Maryland and Virginia avenues, where Officer Michael Peters was flagged down to help him. The man was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in stable condition, Ritzel said.

Police later recovered four shell casings but have not yet obtained any video surveillance, he said.

Detective Charles Stuart is investigating. Police ask that anyone with information call 609-347-5766.

Information also can be provided anonymously to Atlantic County Crime Stoppers at 609-652-1234 or texted to tip411 (847411), beginning the text with ACPD.
