In the middle of yet another heat wave, cooling stations and ice distribution in Atlantic County will continue to operate over the next several days.

Ice and water will be available to residents today behind the Hamilton Mall on Route 40 in Mays Landing from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The county advises residents to contact their local office of emergency management for locations of cooling stations and times of operation.

Municipal OEM contact numbers are available in the phone book as well as online at www.aclink.org/oep and www.ReadyAtlantic.org.

County library branches will reopen today during normal business hours and offer another option for those seeking relief from the heat, Atlantic County spokeswoman Linda Gilmore said in a statement.

But the branches in Mays Landing and Egg Harbor Township were still without power as of yesterday and may remain closed.

In addition, the county's nine senior centers will open Thursday. Residents can call 1-888-426-9243 for locations and hours of operation and to request transportation.

Power has also been restored to most county facilities, Gilmore said, with the exception of some offices in Mays Landing.
