Atlantic County is advising the public of a Code Blue effective through Sunday.

The alert is required within 24 to 48 hours of weather conditions the National Weather Service forecasts as:

• Temperatures dropping 25 degrees or more without precipitation or 32 degrees or more with precipitation

• Wind chill of zero degrees or less for two or more hours.

The Code Blue helps protect citizens who live outdoors or in poorly insulated settings.

Life-threatening emergencies should be called in to 9-1-1. Nonemergencies may be reported to municipal offices. See readyatlantic.org/mainpages/localems.asp.
