A boy was airlifted to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia on Saturday following a personal watercraft accident in Ocean City.
Fire Capt. Ray Clark said two engines and a water rescue unit responded to a reported injury at 5:11 p.m. at Ninth Street and the bay. Another call directed responders to West Eighth Street, where the boy was transported.
The boy suffered trauma to his legs, midsection and pelvic area, Clark said. Emergency medical technicians stabilized him at the scene before transporting him to Ocean City Municipal Airport, where a SouthStar medevac unit flew him to CHOP.
The boy, whose name and age is not being released, was conscious and talking at the scene, Clark said.
Clark said the accident involved at least one personal watercraft and a tow-behind inflatable, although the circumstances of the accident were unclear.
The State Police Marine Unit is investigating the accident, he said.
