A few dozen people were displaced from their homes after a fire in a Bridgeton apartment complex Thursday night.

Firefighters responded to the Nia Amity Heights Apartments on Pamphylia Avenue at 7:12 p.m. for a fire in a second floor unit, said Capt. Kevin Scarlato. The apartment suffered extensive damaged and spread to the roof of an adjacent home, he said.

Residents were home at the time of the fire but no injuries were reported, he said.

An electrical panel was damaged causing the tenants of six units to leave their home for the night, he said. The American Red Cross is assisting with vouchers for food, clothing and lodging, he said.

Fre companies from Fairton and Rosenhayn assisted the department in extinguishing the blaze.
