BRIDGETON - Police have arrested a 24-year-old Bridgeton man and charged him with attempted homicide in relation to a June 28 shooting.

Thomas W. Bard, Jr. was charged with allegedly shooting another local man on Giles Street as the resident was driving south on the roadway that afternoon, police said. The victim was not injured but hit a parked car with his vehicle when trying to dodge the gunfire.

An investigation revealed that Bard and the victim had been in an altercation earlier that day, police said.

Bard was arrested July 5 and has been taken to Cumberland County jail, with bail set at $300,000.
