VINELAND – Police said today they have charged a Bridgeton man with causing serious injury while operating a motor vehicle in connection with a one-car crash that left him and another person in critical condition.
Alexander J. Kirkland, 18, of Birch Street, was driving a car when it hit a utility pole around 4:35 a.m. near the intersection of Mays Landing and Union roads.
Kirkland and a passenger in the car, Tashia Moss, 26, of Falcon Street in Bridgeton, both suffered serious injuries, police said. Kirkland was flown by helicopter to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, while Moss was flown by helicopter to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center, City Campus, they said.
Along with the charge of causing serious injury while operating a motor vehicle, police said Kirkland is also charged with failing to wear a seatbelt, failure to keep right, reckless driving, and being an unlicensed driver.
Another passenger in the car – Sydney Moss, 18, of South East Avenue here, sustained minor injuries, police said. Moss was treated at Inspira Medical Center Vineland for his injuries and then released, they said.
