VINELAND - Two Bridgeton residents remain in critical condition following an early morning accident Sunday, city police said.

Alexander Kirkland and Tashia Moss were both injured when the car Kirkland was driving struck a utility pole at 4:35 a.m. near the intersection of Mays Landing and Union roads, police said.

Kirkland, 20, of Burlington Road, and Moss, 26, of Falcon Street, both suffered serious injuries, police said. Kirkland was flown by helicopter to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, while Moss was flown by helicopter to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center, City Campus in Atlantic City, they said.

Another passenger in the car - Sydney Moss, 18, of South East Avenue in Vineland, sustained minor injuries, police said. Moss was treated at Inspira Medical Center Vineland for his injuries and then released, they said.

Police said the accident remains under investigation.
