BRIDGETON — City police said they arrested a local man today for allegedly shooting at his brother and his brother’s girlfriend late Wednesday night.
Isiah Thomas a, 28, shot at a car containing the two people after an altercation that occurred at the Maplewood Gardens apartment complex, police said.
The two victims — Edward Holden, 34, of West Broad Street here, and Carolynn Carr, 36, of the Seabrook section of Upper Deerfield Township — were not injured, police said.
Captain Michael Gaimari of the Police Department here said local authorities went to the apartment complex after getting a report of gunshots at the facility shortly before midnight. Police discovered an altercation had taken place between Carr and other people at the apartment complex, he said.
The vehicle containing Carr and Holden was not at the scene, and was eventually found about an hour later at a convenience store on North Pearl Street in Upper Deerfield Township, Gaimari said. Gaimari said evidence was recovered from both the shooting scene and the vehicle.
Thomas was charged with aggravated assault, criminal mischief and various weapons offenses after bring arrested at his Birch Street home here, Gaimari said. Thomas was lodged in the Cumberland County jail here on $35,000 cash bail, he said.
The incident remains under investigation, Gaimari said.
