MILLVILLE - A 25-year-old Bridgeton resident was in critical condition after being stabbed in the neck outside a house in the 300 block of North Second Street Wednesday morning.

Police said Tyron Allen of Bridgeton was injured in the 6:51 a.m. attack.

Now, police are looking for a "person of interest, who is not being identified at this time."

Allen and another man had an altercation outside the North Second Street home, police said. The Bridgeton resident was stabbed in the neck and fled inside the home, they said.

The residents inside the house went after the assailant after they learned what happened, police said. The assailant fled after being struck by a paddle-wielding resident, police said.

Allen was taken to Cooper University in Camden, where he remained Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Patrolman Charles Twigg and Detective Tim Rehmann were investigating the attack.
