EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP — A 70-year-old man from Brigantine died from injuries he sustained in a crash Friday, police said Monday.

Thomas Hayes, 70, of Brigantine, died Saturday, a day after his sport-utility vehicle and a truck driven by Kyle Fuss, 22, of Hamilton Township, collided head-on, police said. The crash happened around 3:13 p.m. Friday on Longport Boulevard in the Seaview Harbor section of the township.

Fuss was traveling west when he crossed the center line, police said Monday. Patricia Hayes, 69, of Brigantine, also was injured.

The couple were trapped in their vehicle and were rescued by firefighters. They were taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, Atlantic City, where Thomas Hayes later died, police said. Patricia Hayes was listed in fair condition Monday at AtlantiCare.

Fuss was taken by ambulance to Shore Medical Center in Somers Point, where he was treated and released.

Police said the Atlantic County Medical Examiner’s Office notified them of Hayes’ death Saturday.

Lt. Robert Gray said Monday no charges had been filed in the accident, which remained under investigation by Officers Robert Moran, Patrick Daly and Brian Dickson.
