VINELAND — Authorities charged an Atlantic County woman Wednesday in connection with the death of a Vineland woman Saturday night in a two-car crash.
Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae said Mary Pappas was intoxicated when she ran a stop sign at 10:30 p.m. Saturday at Chestnut Avenue and New Panther Road.
Authorities said Pappas — who was driving a pickup truck south on New Panther Road — hit a sedan driven by 59-year-old Joann Guzzi. Guzzi, who was traveling east on East Chestnut Avenue. Guzzi died at the scene, authorities said.
Pappas, 43, of the Milmay section of Buena Vista Township, is charged with vehicular homicide, driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and failure to stop at a stop sign. Her bail is set at $50,000 cash.
An investigation by local police and the Prosecutor's Office is ongoing, Webb-McRae said.
