A small wildfire continues to burn in Wharton State Forest in Burlington County on Tuesday.

The fire, which started in an isolated section Monday morning, is burning slowly and is not expected to burn more than 170 acres.

Forest Fire Service officials say they expect the fire to burn out when it exhausts its limited fuel supply and reaches the fire breaks that surround the area.

Forest Fire Service Division Fireward Bert Plante said that the lack of wind has allowed the fire to burn slowly, rather than forcing it to the breaks.

The blaze started before 7 a.m. Monday just east of Route 206 near Atsion Lake and north of Quaker Bridge Road in Shamong Township, Burlington County.
