Hundreds of members from Atlantic City’s largest casino union are expected to rally this afternoon for healthcare reform.
The rally by Local 54 of UNITE-HERE is scheduled to start 5 p.m. at Brighton Park, at Park Place and the Boardwalk near the Korean War Memorial.
Local 54 spokesman Ben Begleiter estimated 300 to 600 union members will turn out in support of healthcare reform and lower medical costs. He said escalating healthcare costs have squeezed the union members and their casino employers.
Local 54 represents about 13,500 workers at all 12 Atlantic City casinos except for Revel Casino-Hotel.
