WAYNE — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says he expects to have fun in his first debate with Democrat Barbara Buono.

The candidates face off Tuesday night at William Paterson University in Wayne.

Just hours before the televised debate, Christie told campaign volunteers in East Brunswick that he simply plans to be himself.

He said he has nothing to worry about and the matchup is "going to be fun." He says viewers won't be the least bit surprised by what they see from him.

Polls have shown the Republican governor with a strong lead over Buono, a state senator, in his bid for a second term.

The debate will be broadcast by the CBS TV stations in New York and Philadelphia at 7 p.m.

The election is Nov. 5.
