Gov. Chris Christie signed a bill today that will allow Revel to have a beach bar.

The bill, sponsored by Assemblyman Chris A. Brown, R-Atlantic, closed a loophole that did not allow casinos built after Aug. 31, 2011 in the state’s Tourism District in Atlantic City to have beach bars.

“Beach bars have become a important draw for casinos to attract people who want to unwind and enjoy the surf and sand,” Brown said in a statement.

“Governor Christie’s action will help newer casinos, such as Revel, compete. They will have the same opportunity as existing ones to open these amenities and increase tourism and entertainment revenue in an area specifically designed to boost tourism.”

State Sen. Jim Whelan, D-Atlantic, also was a sposnor of the legislation.
