A 55-foot-commercial fishing trawler ran into a sandbank late Friday morning in the Great Egg Harbor Inlet.

John Bodin, operations manager for Towboat U.S. in Somers Point, said the inlet has been very dangerous for local boaters because of shallow waters. The boat was towed to Somers Point and Towboat U.S. will check the bottom to determine if there is damage to the rudder or propeller, he said.

The Atlantic City office of the U.S. Coast Guard did not have information on the accident immediately available.
