New Jersey Turnpike Authority is prepared to award a contract for construction of southbound span of the Great Egg Harbor Bridge, as well as demolition of the Beesley's Point Bridge.
But that might not happen if the authority and the state Department of Environmental Protection don't resolve an issue over mitigation.

But the DEP says that work doesn't qualify because the bridge hasn't been used in five years.
The Great Egg Harbor Bridge spans Great Egg Harbor Bay and connects Atlantic and Cape May counties.
