EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP - A 23 year-old was caught emerging from the crawl space of a house in where he was suspected of stealing copper piping.
Police arrested Robert Lamb on Friday in front of the home reported burglarized on Ocean Heights Avenue, in the Scullville section.
The victim, Anna Smith, 34, called police at 11:24 a.m. about a burglary in progress, and a perimeter was set up, police said.
Lamb was charged with burglary, theft, criminal mischief, possession of burglar tools and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $25,000 cash and Lamb is in Atlantic County jail.
Police said in a statement today that metal thefts continue to be a serious problem in EHT and the state.
Other significant cases since the start of the year include 16 metal grates removed from the mausoleum at Laurel Memorial Cemetery, aluminum removed from a FABI Construction lot and other individual incidents at vacant residences.
