BRIDGETON – Cumberland County’s courthouse will close from 7 a.m. to noon on Thursday March 21 for what officials are calling a “full-scale critical incident exercise.”

The exercise involves a response by law enforcement and other agencies to a simulated shooting in the building at Broad and Fayette streets, officials said.

Cumberland County Sheriff Robert Austino said no court-related activity or other types of county business will be done during the exercise. Members of the public should keep a safe distance from the courthouse and its Vine Street parking garage while the scenario plays out, he said.

Members of the public who are not part of the exercise but have questions about the exercise can call Cumberland County Undersheriff Norman Franckle at 856-451-4449.
