Dennis Filler, the newly named head of the FAA's William J. Hughes Technical Center, will be the keynote speaker at the Avionics for NextGen Conference in Atlantic City on Sept. 17.
Filler, a 16-year veteran of the FAA, returned as the tech center's director in March succeeding Wilson Felder who retired in November. He had most recently spent four years running DLF Consulting in Parsons, W.Va.
During his address at the Sheraton Atlantic City Convention Center Hotel, Filler is expected to speak about the technological advances and future research plans for NextGen. The tech center located in Egg Harbor Township is the nation's only federal laboratory for air transportation systems.
September will be the third Avionics for NextGen Conference, all of which have been held in Atlantic City. The conference sponsored by Avionics Magazine brings together commercial, military and government markets to talk about the challenges and solutions for implementing NextGen technologies, a series of initiatives intended to improve air travel.
"The William J. Hughes Technical Center is at the forefront of the FAA's campaign to modernize the airspace, and its research is crucial in contributing to the success of NextGen implementation," said Emily Feliz, editor in chief of Avionics Magazine.
